We have recently completed the ornamental planting to a design created by Smeedon Foreman. The landscaping elements of a new retail area at Marshalswick, St Albans were delivered this August 2017. The main contractor was Stainforth Construction and the planting was expertly completed by the Paxman Soft Landscaping team.

Working to a design and build concept from a leading design and construction company, Finnegan, we are adding to our planned landscaping schemes this Autumn with the planting developments at Double Tree Hilton Hotel, Sheffield.
Nestled in a leafy suburb in reach of Sheffield, Chesterfield and the Peak District, the Double Tree Hilton will gain its newly-planted landscape courtesy of the Paxman Landscapes soft landscaping team.
Another chance to work with Finnegan who work in residential, commercial and industrial realms across the UK, this project is scheduled to start shortly.
Hazelmoor Fold is a private housing development built on the site of the former Wilkinsons Brickworks in Elland near Leeds. This is one of our latest project starts where the client has used our Design and Build service. This ensures the client has a streamlined project from design to completion and allows the maximum control and flexibility throughout.
This private homeowner’s rear garden has a landscape design reflecting the former brickworks, with careful consideration and specification of materials to replicate the original chimney construction.
Work will commence on site shortly.

Lookers Land Rover in Colchester will be moving to a larger site, purpose-built and with the benefit of first class landscaping from Paxman Landscapes in 2017.
The 10,500 square metre site off Axial Way in Colchester will have the final landscaping underway this Autumn. The forecourt and surrounding areas and perimeters will have trees, shrubs and climbers as part of their planting. Geo-textile layers will be laid and wildflower seeding, hedging and an ornamental blend of shrubs will be planted by the Paxman soft landscaping team, starting in September 2017.
The landscape scheme has been designed by Andrew Hastings Landscape Consultants, a member of the Landscape Institute.

Meeting the deadlines for a late summer opening (10 August), we have completed the landscaping at a brand new multi-million-pound Lidl store and 148-space car park. Built on former industrial land that had previously been left vacant since 2013. The 30,000sq ft store replaces – and doubles the size – of the store that was opposite.
The soft landscaping completed by the Paxman Landscapes team creates a green aspect around the car park, store entrance and roadsides. Large 16/18cm girth trees have been planted, accompanied by native shrubs and hedging, ground cover and grass seeding. All of the planting has been mulched to ensure healthy plant establishment and weed suppression.
Paxman Landscapes had previously been on site at the very start of the project build to remove trees and clear vegetation in preparation for the construction of the store itself, completed by Castlehouse Construction, Leeds.
The 30,000sq ft store replaces – and doubles the size – of the store that was opposite and will create up to 20 new jobs.

Next time you pop on your golf spikes, pick up your clubs and head for Wortley Golf Club, you’ll spot our natty tee sponsorship on Hole 16. We’ve gone a “fairway” in supporting the Club and are really pleased with the results. Not looking “rough” at all, the signage will take pride of place on the 16th hole, nestled in the golfing landscape for “birdies” and players to enjoy as they tee off. On the home straight towards the Clubhouse, it certainly “makes the cut”!
As part of a competition organised by Town Centre Securities (TCS), the property investment and development company based in Leeds, we are supporting the British Nutrition Foundation’s Healthy Eating Week 2017. How? By supplying local primary school children with some of our builders hard hats to use as plant pots! 
To enter the competition, the children have been tasked with growing fruit and vegetables in the hats, which will be used as hanging baskets to decorate around their school buildings and play areas. They will need to nurture and water their plants, keep a diary and record just how well their plants are thriving in their helmet homes!
Alongside other supporters in BAM Construction, GMI Construction and Child Friendly Leeds, our hats will soon be taking pride of place around schools across Yorkshire. The winning class, selected by a panel of judges in early July, will have an awesome treat in store – lunch at Marco Pierre White’s Wade Lane restaurant in Leeds. A fantastic competition, theme and purpose – getting children growing healthy food – that we are more than happy to support! Full write-up on the TCS website.
As we announced last month, we are currently on site working on the centrepiece of the RHS Chatsworth Flower Show 2017 – the Great Conservatory.
As it’s the first RHS Show at Chatsworth House, they want the centrepiece to be spectactular – and it is certainly living up to that! They are bringing Joseph Paxton’s original conservatory design back to life using the latest inflatable technology. At the heart of the Show, it will be surrounded by exhibitions by the RHS and Chatsworth Estate telling the story of Paxton and his achievements. Included will be a scale model of the Great Conservatory, original plans, and a display of past, present and future work of the Royal Horticultural Society and Chatsworth.

How it will look in Joseph Paxton’s Great Conservatory
One of a series of Extra Care residential care homes constructed across Hull and managed by the social housing specialists Riverside, the Redwood Glades Care Home Hull comprises 156 flats… and an expertly completed landscape. The design of the landscape, perfect to allow easy access and navigation around the site and to create beautiful landscaped vistas for the residents to enjoy all year round, was constructed and completed by the Paxman team this Spring.
Courtyard planting included shrubs, ornamental trees and wildflower pockets, flanked by sculpted turf. Pathways lead the visitor around the gardens and enable an easily navigable route around the site for the less able and mobile of its residents.
Started in November 2016, Paxman created two courtyards and surrounding ornamental beds around the gardens, access and parkways. The care home is one of three new homes across the region, in partnership with Hull City Council and Wates Living Space (part of Wates Construction).
Whilst we pride ourselves on our larger commercial landscaping schemes (we do make a grand job of a grand job!), we’re just as pleased with the smaller private landscape work that we complete. Customers in both sectors need good communication, design and close attention to specification, deadlines and exceeding expectations. Our hard landscaping and planting teams provide smaller solutions to homeowners and private companies, be it paving, pathways, walls, patios or timberwork. We’ve been busy on a number of smaller projects which have been completed throughout the spring and we’re just as proud of these, too. So, here they are!
