A really important part of our development at Paxman Landscapes is training, sharing knowledge and engaging with the community.  This takes many forms  and our Director, Justin Paxman, can regularly be found speaking at colleges and training events, telling of his experiences running a successful, professional landscaping business.  It is vitally important that we encourage young adults to take up skilled and technical professions such as landscaping, particularly when the industry is crying out for apprentices and the managers of the future.  The opportunities within landscaping are huge – learning everything from planting to machinery management, costings to design.

Grounds maintenance CollegeJustin returned to Kirklees College yesterday (4 November 2015).  He has visited before to “spread the word” of landscaping to the students embarking upon their final year at the College.  Some are studying Countryside Management, others are working towards a Landscaping Diploma.  Likewise, some are focusing on arboriculture, agriculture and other associated disciplines – all of which could gain benefit by embarking on a career in landscaping.  Justin started as an apprentice himself and puts great value on his experiences gained through on-the-job training.

Nat Adams from Kirklees College who engaged Justin to talk to the students said:

“Thanks so much for coming to talk to the group today.  They [the students] all seemed to gain something from it.”
