My Family | Sneak Peek: Harrogate Spring Flower Show 2016

We’ve a couple of sneak peeks of this year’s latest showpiece from Paxman Landscapes.  The third successive creation at Harrogate Spring Flower Show, this year’s masterpiece will build on the award-winning concepts of the Skyline Garden 2015 and the Tropical Courtyard 2014.SneakPeek1

Teaming up once more with the Association of Professional Landscapers (APL), the garden, entitled “My Family”, has the family unit at its core; an outdoor space to enjoy the company of your nearest and dearest, to dine, to relax, to build beautiful family memories.  Designed to simply translate into any family garden, this year’s showcase features an outdoor dining room and a natural seating area, perfect for retiring to after dinner.

Justin Paxman, Director of Paxman Landscapes and project manager of the show garden’s construction said: “The emphasis of this year’s show garden is My Family – traditional values – mealtimes in the open air, spending quality time with family and friends and sharing stories of the day’s toils.  We’re a traditional family business at Paxman Landscapes and this fits perfectly with the way we run things.  It’s also a great representation of how the APL has developed into one big landscaping family.”APL20thAnniversary

The Big Dig | One customer’s journey: Landscaping Lepton

We’re taking you with us on a Paxman customer journey, as experienced by a client who commissioned us to build their domestic landscaping scheme in Lepton, near Huddersfield.  Here, we continue to follow progress made – starting with the Big Dig.

We mentioned the mound in the centre of the land we were developing – this proved challenging, but nothing we couldn’t overcome.  Below you’ll see how the excavation took shape, how the drainage and foundation work was prepared and the slope and gradients that we had to contend with.   And then – the first blocks of surrounding walls arrive!

Turning heads in Cawthorne | Ready for planting

Ready for planting | Domestic Landscaping in Cawthorne, South Yorkshire

cawthorne post officeWhilst the weather hasn’t exactly been kind to us landscapers so far in 2016, we haven’t let it dampen our spirits (or our creativity!).  The team have been busy on commercial projects as well as domestic schemes, just like this one we completed in January in Cawthorne.

Our brief was to create a turning circle which blended into the traditional village surroundings and maximised the landscape potential of a small area to the rear of the cottage in Cawthorne, just outside Barnsley.  Fully primed with the customer’s wishes, plans and bespoke materials to create a superior landscape finish,  our team set about removing existing stumps and trees before excavating.

turning area cawthorneWhat do you think?  The resulting turning area is built from Marshall Tegula Harvest blocks and this contrasts with the backdrop of hand-made trellis.  We even replaced the old gravel on the existing drive to finish things off perfectly.  What’s left now? Just the planting – but we’ll be back in a couple of months when the weather is kinder.  We’ll show you the results when we’re done.
