This new four-acre headquarters, Symmetry Park at Blyth in Nottinghamshire, has facilities including a showroom, coach parking and offices. It is close to the A1 and represents significant local investment.

First impressions landscaping

Equally significant is the first impression on site, thanks to the soft landscape delivery by J Paxman Landscapes. Completed in just over 3 weeks in November, the soft landscaping team managed the hydroseeding of banks, bed preparation around the periphery of the complex, as well as executing the planting shrubs, ground cover and hedging.

Working again with main contractor Stainforth Construction, project lead Nathan Paxman praised his team for delivering another quality soft landscape on time, to specification and with a strong commitment, ensuring the site was left clean and clear upon completion.

The Soft Landscape works

Softening the palisade fencing with a mixed native hedgerow, the boundaries and green edge to the development features standard to extra heavy standard trees, planted and secured. A native scrub mix with more trees creates a buffer between the existing coach park, softening the mounding between the two areas. A new avenue of Tilia cordata Greenspire trees marks the edge of the development along the road edge, with a blanket of wildflower meadow seed beneath for habitat and foraging resources.

To the far reaches of the complex beyond a hydroseeded bank, the team planted a new birch woodland for vertical height and screening.

Closer to the office buildings, the design features informal seating where JPL have surrounded with amenity grass, ornamental planting and bulbs. Further ornamental planting continues across the visitor car park beds and forecourt, with Betula utilis Jacquemontii welcoming visitors with their architecturally striking silhouettes. The car park itself has a further native hedgerow and the flowering lawn and existing hedges have been tidied and maintained.
