APL show garden collaboration with Melissa Morton
J Paxman Landscapes will be joining forces as Harrogate Spring Show build veterans again in 2025. As the selected APL accredited contractor for Melissa Morton‘s ‘Garden for gathering’ show garden, the soft and hard landscaping teams will be gearing up for the build later this month (April 2025).
Geometric design
Melissa’s vision centres on the best use of space in the garden. With a layout based on the “Golden Section”, enhancing balance, flow and harmony, the smallest of spaces can be afforded both beauty and functionality beyond their square metreage. Commenting on the concept and the show garden journey, designer Melissa said:
“Designing for a show garden requires a different mindset; rather than long-term seasonal interest, the focus is on what looks good now. Evergreens provide essential structure, anchoring the space, while large specimens create the illusion of maturity, visually expanding the garden and helping visitors envision how their own spaces could evolve over time.”
The show garden build
This year’s show runs from 24-27 April 2025 but the actual build begins in earnest at least three days before – with the design, planning and organisation underway for several weeks already. The APL team and our own cohort from JPL will be busy with the build in the run-up to the event launch and will be handling the paving, walling, fencing, planting and water features within the garden.
We will be sharing progress updates as the garden takes shape and look forward to welcoming garden, landscape, home and horticultural enthusiasts to the event later this month.
