Paxman Landscapes planting for wildlife at University of York

Paxman Landscapes are on site this September at the University of York Environment building, creating wildlife-friendly havens around the campus.  Working with client Morgan Sindall, the team are responsible for the soft landscaping elements around the building and environs, adding wildflower turf and pre-seeded matting.  The newly-landscaped sections will be complete by the end of the month and will start to thrive and flourish in spring 2016.

The Environment Building, the University’s £12 million investment project, is due for completion this year and will house purpose-built teaching, office and laboratory facilities.

Planting includes 2, 3 and 5 litre shrubs with a selection of grasses and herbaceous varieties to bring colour and interest all year round.  Pockets of shrubs with popular varieties including lavender, mahonia and fatsia will be punctuated with half-standard fruit trees for berry, bark and fruit contrast.

This is just one of the smaller planting projects to be undertaken this Autumn, with a number of other larger commercial landscaping and grounds maintenance contracts commencing or underway in the North and North West.
